Mythos is far from showing the truth in itself and they are also surrealistic expressions of exaggeration. Surreal expression in the myths are shaping in my dream world and evolve to imaginative expressions.
In the period when uncoscious events which were far from reality exist with the help of clay, they are transformed into divine beasts from the divine characters. Minotaurs and Centaurs which are exist in Myths, turning to another characters in my mind.
Through perception in ancient Greek Mythos, I try to make stronger the animals offered to the Gods. In the harmony, I am just trying to create a new 21th century Mythos with those characters.
Graduated from Anadolu University in 2010. After graduation I had been accepted to M.A. Programme at Hacettepe University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramic Department. After this time i decided to work on animal figures. Initially, i was thinking how to combine animals with human moves. First tries were like just simple caricatures. Then i started to work on bull figures acting like human and wrote my M.A thesis on the cartoonish bull figurines. I continued to my Ph. D at the same university. With my experience, my figures started to transform. I am so interested in history and with the help of my advisor Professor Kaan Canduran we decided to work on mythological warrior animals. The mythology always inspire the artists as me. By the way, i was searching for new animals to form my characters. ‘’Bull’’ was ok but not enough for my army so i decided to work on goat, gorilla, rhino and wild boar figures by the bull. Afterwards, i determined ‘’Troy’’ as a subject. And i gave new shapes to the characters in the legend of Troy. In my mind all characters could be seen as animals. I read the legend and each figures in the myth were reflecting personalities as animals. For example, Hector was like a bull.. noble, strong, never surrender untill his end. Paris like a goat. He hold on to his love despite risk of losing his kingdom etc. In the end i shaped my characters with clay and wrote my Ph. D thesis on “Surrealist Expressions of Ceramic Animal Forms of Mythological Figures in the Legend of Troy”.
